Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve teachers’ professional
competence through a Classroom Action Research (CAR) mentoring program. The
activity was carried out as an effort to strengthen teachers’ ability to identify
learning problems, design research activities, implement improvement strategies,
analyze data, and prepare scientific reports based on classroom experiences. The
program was conducted through a participatory mentoring approach involving
teachers from various educational levels. The implementation method consisted of
several stages, namely preparation, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation.
Data were collected through observation, documentation, interviews, and
participant response questionnaires, which were analyzed using descriptive
qualitative methods. The results showed that the CAR mentoring program
provided a positive contribution to improving teachers’ understanding and skills
in conducting classroom-based research. During the implementation stage,
participants actively engaged in training sessions, discussions, problem
identification activities, research proposal development, and academic writing
practices. The evaluation results indicated an increase in teachers’ competence in
preparing CAR proposals, developing research instruments, applying reflective
learning practices, and producing scientific reports. In addition, the activity
encouraged teachers to develop a culture of inquiry and continuous improvement
in learning processes. This community service program demonstrates that
systematic and sustainable mentoring can become an effective strategy for
empowering educators and strengthening professional capacity. Therefore, similar
programs need to be continuously developed through teacher learning
communities and ongoing academic assistance to support innovation, quality
improvement, and professionalism in educational practices.
