This article discusses the implementation of a workshop on developing local
wisdom-based teaching materials as a strategy to support the implementation of
the Merdeka Curriculum. The workshop aimed to improve teachers’ competencies
in designing contextual, innovative, and student-centered learning tools by
integrating local cultural values into teaching modules, learning media,
assessment instruments, and classroom activities. The program employed
participatory methods consisting of presentations, discussions, hands-on practice,
and collaborative development of teaching materials. Through these activities,
participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the principles of the
Merdeka Curriculum and the importance of utilizing local wisdom to create
meaningful learning experiences that reflect students’ cultural backgrounds and
community contexts. The workshop also encouraged collaboration among teachers
in producing adaptive and relevant instructional materials that promote critical
thinking, creativity, and character development in accordance with the Pancasila
Student Profile. The findings indicate that integrating local wisdom into teaching
materials enhances teachers’ creativity and readiness to implement the Merdeka
Curriculum while strengthening students’ cultural identity and engagement in the
learning process. Therefore, local wisdom-based teaching materials can serve as
an effective strategy for improving the quality of learning and ensuring that
curriculum implementation remains relevant to local needs and sustainable
