Pandangan Islam terhadap Perkembangan Teknologi di Era Digital

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to various aspects of human life,
including education, economy, communication, and social and religious activities. Technology provides
convenience in accessing information, accelerating communication processes, and creating new
opportunities for the advancement of knowledge. However, technological development also presents
several challenges, such as information misuse, digital ethical crises, technological dependency, and the
decline of moral values in social interactions. This article aims to analyze the Islamic perspective on
technological development in the digital era and to understand how Islamic values can guide the use of
modern technology. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach by
examining the Qur’an, Hadith, books, and scientific literature related to Islam and technological
development. The results show that Islam does not reject technological advancement but encourages
humans to develop knowledge as long as its use provides benefits and does not contradict religious
values. Technology is viewed as a means (wasilah) that should be directed toward human welfare, such
as improving education, expanding Islamic preaching, strengthening social relationships, and solving
various life problems. Islam provides ethical principles in the use of technology, including responsibility,
honesty, privacy protection, and avoiding the misuse of knowledge. Therefore, technological progress in
the digital era needs to be accompanied by a balance between intellectual capability and spiritual values
so that technology can become a tool that supports human development and civilization.
