Konsep Alam Semesta Dalam Al-Qur'an Dan Relevansinya Dengan Teori Kosmologi Kontemporer

Abstract

The concept of the universe is one of the important themes that is widely discussed in the Qur'an through various kauniyah verses that explain the process of creation, structure, development, and order of nature. In the development of modern science, the study of the origin and evolution of the universe has become the main focus of contemporary cosmology which has given rise to various theories, such as the Big Bang theory, the expansion of the universe, the formation of galaxies, and the possibility of the end of the universe. This article aims to analyze the concept of the universe in the Qur'an and examine its relevance to contemporary cosmological theories. The research uses a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach through a study of the verses of the Qur'an, interpretations, and scientific literature related to modern cosmology. The results of the study show that a number of verses of the Qur'an, such as QS. Al-Anbiya' [21]: 30, QS. Fussilat [41]: 11, and QS. Adz-Dzariyat [51]: 47, contains a description of the creation of the universe that has a meeting point with the concept of modern cosmology, especially the Big Bang theory, the initial phase of the universe in the form of gas or cosmic fog (dukhan), and the phenomenon of the expansion of the universe. However, the Qur'an is not a scientific book that explains scientific details technically, but rather a book of guidance that provides signs about natural phenomena as a means of reflection on the greatness of Allah SWT. Therefore, the relationship between the Qur'an and contemporary cosmology is more appropriately understood as a complementary dialogue between revelation and science. The integration of the two can enrich human understanding of the universe while strengthening spiritual awareness and responsibility in utilizing science for the benefit of humanity.
