TAFSIR AYAT TENTANG ILMU PENGETAHUAN

Abstract

This article discusses the interpretation of Qur’anic verses
related to knowledge and science as an important foundation for
developing human civilization. In Islam, knowledge is considered
a noble value because it is closely connected with human
responsibility as a servant and vicegerent of Allah on earth. This
study aims to analyze the meaning and educational messages
contained in several Qur’anic verses that emphasize the
importance of seeking knowledge, thinking, and developing
scientific understanding. The research uses a qualitative
approach with a library research method through the study of
Qur’anic verses, classical and contemporary tafsir literature,
and related scientific references. The analysis focuses on verses
such as QS. Al-‘Alaq (96): 1–5, QS. Al-Mujādilah (58): 11, and
QS. Al-Qalam (68): 1, which highlight reading, writing,
learning, and the elevation of human dignity through knowledge.
The findings show that the Qur’an encourages Muslims to pursue
knowledge in both religious and worldly fields. The concept of
iqra’ in QS. Al-‘Alaq represents an invitation to explore,
understand, and investigate the universe, while the use of qalam
symbolizes the importance of recording and transmitting
knowledge. Knowledge in the Qur’anic perspective is not merely
intellectual achievement but must be accompanied by faith,
morality, and responsibility. Therefore, science and technology
should be developed to bring benefit (maslahah) for humanity.
This study concludes that Qur’anic teachings provide a strong
foundation for integrating scientific progress with Islamic values,
creating a balanced relationship between revelation, reason, and
human civilization.
