The relationship between the Qur'an and Hadith constitutes the
primary foundation in the construction of Islamic law. Although
the Qur'an serves as the principal source of Islamic legislation,
most legal verses (āyāt al-aḥkām) require explanation through
Hadith in order to derive operational meanings that can be
applied in the lives of Muslims. This study aims to analyze the
forms of interaction between Hadith and legal verses, as well as
their implications for the methodology of interpreting Islamic
law. The research employs a library research method with a
descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data are derived from
the Qur'an, legal Hadiths, and both classical and contemporary
works of tafsīr al-aḥkām. Secondary data are obtained from the
literature of uṣūl al-fiqh and modern academic studies discussing
the integration of the Qur'an and Sunnah in the process of legal
deduction (istinbāṭ al-aḥkām). The findings indicate that Hadith
functions as bayān al-tafsīr (explanatory interpretation), bayān
al-takhṣīṣ (specification of general texts), bayān al-taqyīd
(restriction of absolute texts), bayān al-ta’kīd (reinforcement of
legal rulings), and tashrī‘ mustaqill (an independent source of
legislation). From an epistemological perspective, Hadith serves
as an interpretive instrument that bridges the normative text of
the Qur'an with the practical realities of human life. Therefore,
Hadith-based interpretation of legal verses represents the most
authoritative approach to understanding and implementing
Islamic law.
