Peran Generasi Muda dalam Memperkuat Nilai-Nilai Demokrasi di Indonesia

Abstract

Democracy is an essential foundation in the development of a nation, including
Indonesia, which implements a democratic system based on the values of Pancasila.
In the current era of globalization and digital transformation, the younger
generation has a strategic role in maintaining and strengthening democratic
values. This article aims to analyze the role of young people in strengthening
democratic values in Indonesia, including their participation, awareness, and
contribution to creating a democratic society. The method used in this study is a
qualitative approach through literature review by examining various sources
related to youth participation, democracy, citizenship, and social development. The
findings indicate that the younger generation plays an important role as agents of
change who can encourage democratic practices through active participation in
political, social, and cultural activities. Youth involvement can be seen through
participation in elections, expressing opinions responsibly, utilizing digital media
for positive campaigns, and promoting tolerance and respect for differences.
However, challenges such as political apathy, misinformation, and the spread of
radical ideas through digital platforms remain obstacles that must be addressed.
Therefore, strengthening democratic education, digital literacy, and civic
awareness among young people is needed to build a generation that is critical,
responsible, and committed to democratic principles. The role of youth is not only
as future leaders but also as active actors in maintaining the sustainability of
democracy in Indonesia.
