This article examines the relationship between knowledge, adab, and scholarly tradition as the foundation of Muslim education in classical Islamic civilization. Knowledge is viewed not only as information but also as a means of character formation grounded in adab. The scholarly tradition emphasizes the integration of intellectual and ethical dimensions through the roles of teachers, chains of transmission, and respect for knowledge. Methods such as halaqah and talaqqi reflect a holistic approach to transmitting knowledge and values. Classical scholars highlight the unity of intellectual and spiritual development. This study underscores the relevance of these concepts in addressing modern educational challenges that often prioritize cognitive aspects alone.
