This research is motivated by the low level of student discipline in elementary schools, which is indicated by behaviors such as late arrival to school, non-compliance with rules, and lack of responsibility in learning activities. The role of the principal as an educational leader is very important in creating a disciplined and conducive school environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of the principal in improving student discipline at SD Negeri 131 Palembang. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the principal plays an active role in improving student discipline through the implementation of firm rules, providing examples, regular supervision, and coaching for students and teachers. In addition, cooperation between the school and parents is also a supporting factor in improving student discipline. Thus, the role of the principal is very influential in shaping the character of student discipline in the school environment.
