This study was motivated by the importance of instructional planning in enhancing students’ motivation to learn in elementary school. Motivation to learn is one of the key factors influencing students’ success in the learning process. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to plan lessons effectively so that teaching and learning activities run smoothly and can increase students’ enthusiasm for learning. The purpose of this study is to examine how instructional planning management can enhance student motivation at SD Negeri 131 Palembang. This study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study were the principal and the sixth-grade homeroom teachers at SD Negeri 131 Palembang. The research findings indicate that instructional planning is carried out by setting learning objectives tailored to students’ needs, analyzing students’ initial proficiency through diagnostic assessments, identifying learning barriers and resources, and developing instructional strategies that can enhance students’ motivation to learn. With effective lesson planning, the learning process becomes more focused and effective, and helps increase student engagement in classroom activities.
